Horizontal balers are the most common form of baler due to their high capacity and their ability to handle any form of materials from large bulky containers to oddly shaped and irregular materials. The design of horizontal balers enables them to receive a constant flow of waste from manufacturing and production applications, which makes them ideal for high volume waste and helps avoid having unwanted packaging and containers placed in trash bins.

The term horizontal baler refers to several types of balers that have different capacities, designs, and capabilities. The Excel Baler EX Series Multi-Material Horizontal Baler

The EX-Series produce high density bales of all common recyclable commodities in a highly compact footprint.  The first “full penetration” single ram horizontal baler on the market, the EX-Series provide dense bales of corrugated cardboard, all paper grades, plastics, cans, textiles, and more.  With full eject of the bale upon completion, changing material grades is fast and easy.

The EX-Series provides substantial labor savings over vertical type balers.  A vertical type baler requires the operator to stop feeding while the baler cycles.   EX-Series allows continuous feeding of a top feed hopper while the baler cycles.  A built-in shear cuts through large items, eliminating the need for breaking down bulky items prior to baling.  The balers have a compact footprint that saves valuable floor space. 

Loading of the baler is flexible and efficient.  The balers can be fed by hand, or by a multitude of more automated loading methods.  These include being fed by a cart tipper, either above-ground or pit style conveyors, or directly into the baler with a skid loader.

The Excel Baler 2R Series Two Ram Auto Tie Horizontal Baler

The 2R Series two ram auto tie horizontal balers are fully automated balers that are used for their ability to compact a wide range and high-volume of materials that include fiber, plastics, metals, and solid waste. The two-ram design enables the baler to bale these materials into high density bales for easy handling and efficient shipping.

The 2R Series bale against a solid end wall, which makes it possible for the baler to apply greater compaction force to produce bales with higher densities. The parameters of the baler can be customized for bale tie spacing and compaction force in order to meet predetermined bale requirements.

Excel 2R Series two ram auto tie balers are engineered for durability, reliability, and longevity, which makes them one of the most dependable forms of waste disposal pieces of equipment. Their four-sided solid steel seamless construction and high-quality components ensures that their performance will be the same regardless of the type of waste, environmental conditions, and the frequency of their use. The interlocking plate construction and bolt-in wear liners of 2R Series two ram auto tie balers ensures the longevity and strength of the baler. Bales are tied using 12 gauge galvanized stem wire, a process that is completed automatically after the formation of the bale. The tie spacing can be easily customized and stored for each type of baled material.  Easy to use controls are mounted on the standard operator’s platform.

The popularity of 2R Series two ram auto tie balers is due to the flexibility to bale a wide range of materials.  The industry standard bale size produces, which are generally 60 L X 45 W x 30 H (152 cm L x 115 cm W x 76 cm H). The bale sized lends itself to maximizing loading efficiency of tractor trailers, rail cars, and export containers with exceptional efficiency.

The Excel Baler HV Series Single Ram Horizontal Baler

With a single ram HV Series horizontal baler, bales are formed by compressing waste materials against a heavy-duty hydraulic lift door. The most common use of single ram HV Series horizontal balers is for baling all grades of non-ferrous scrap; including aluminum siding, radiators, aluminum extrusions, and insulated wire.  For this purpose, they are used primarily by scrap metal yards that have outgrown vertical type balers, but whose operations are too small to cost justify a two-ram baler.  In addition to non-ferrous metals, the HV Series single ram horizontal balers are used for baling steel and aluminum cans, plastics, corrugated cardboard, and paper.  While other single ram horizontal balers are unable to handle these heavier materials, Excel Baler’s single ram HV Series with its extra heavy duty indestructible construction is engineered for such tough jobs.
